hello, i am aleks, or also known as rvls. i have been chronically online since late web 2.0 and have dabbled in weird old hardware and software, which this site is meant to internalize. a return to form from my newgrounds, enjin, and other forum days, with a blend of how daily browsing was for me circa 2008-2012 via my vivid childhood memories, browsing from my gateway nv52 laptop to my three machines now.
as the internet has grown extremely centralized, i’ve purveyed many inspirations of these old sites, and reenacted them out of preservation. in doing so however, i also wish to showcase my three.js, homelab, art and courseware work, all in one place i own and run myself instead of a feed that decides who sees it.
the desk, the windows, the tapes and the art are mine. the machine room behind it is real and stays switched on. open too many windows, poke at things, break something. if it looks broken, it might be a feature from 2009. if it isn’t, tell me.

there used to be more of us out here. forums that went quiet mid-thread. flash portals that stopped loading one plugin at a time. guestbooks still waiting on a reply from 2009. nobody shut them off, everyone just fucked off somewhere else, and whatever isn’t visited eventually isn’t kept.
the network got bigger and somehow emptier. four or five feeds now, all the same shitty shape, deciding what gets seen and what sinks. the old places are still down there under the static if you listen long enough. this desk is me listening, and copying down what comes back.
nothing here is quite what it was. it’s rebuilt from memory, which means it’s a little wrong in all the right places. the fire stays lit so you can find it.
if you’ve seen something out there worth saving (a dead site, an old program, a sound you can’t find anymore, any weird shit really), send it. i keep what i can.
