MIRAGE
how this desk got drawn: from a borrowed particle look to op-art, then carved relief, then the bonfire scene, plus the performance budget that keeps a live wallpaper out of the way.
the desk didn’t start as a castle and a fire. it started as a particle field that looked like everyone else’s, which is exactly why i left it. op-art came next, then carved relief made from seeded noise, then the bonfire scene: a castle with its lights on, a truck that shouldn’t be there, and a hooded figure who now points you at doors.
the pictures are made in vector and raster tools and i keep the source files. the moving parts are small on purpose, eight frames of fire, a few dozen stars and castle windows that pulse with the music. a scheduler pauses anything hidden or covered and steps down when frames start running long, so the wallpaper never fights the windows in front of it.
an earlier version tracked the cursor and filled the whole screen. cutting it back made the page feel more real, which surprised me a bit.
you get the desk itself and the gallery. the source files, seeds and frame budget stay with me.
