PRISM

a seven-program internet safety course inside rvls/os, dressed up as a sketchy 2007 warez site. phishing triage, stranger ims, cookie banners, a branching download disaster, a trap-spotting map, an adware drill and a final exam, and every one is a .h5p file you can open up.

prism is an internet safety course that looks like the worst website of 2007. seven programs run inside it, each on its own screen, and each one is a real h5p package you can download: INBOX.PHP (a webmail inbox to sort through), BUDDY.EXE (an evening of instant messages from strangers), COOKIE.JAR (consent banners and who gets your cookies), ARCADE (a branching download disaster), ATLAS (a map full of traps to spot), INFECT (an adware drill) and EXAM (the final, with exhibits).

the jokes are there to keep you playing, but the lessons are real ones: reading a link’s actual domain, double file extensions, friends whose accounts got taken over, mfa prompts you didn’t start, evil-twin wi-fi, dns on a network you don’t control, pre-ticked cookie boxes and backups. plenty of what you run into is perfectly legit, because the point is judgement and not being scared of everything. five of the seven programs use content types i wrote from scratch for this site, and the banners, buttons and popups around them are pixel, bitmap and vector art i made for it.

every program is packaged on its own with its own manifest, its own dependencies and its own download, so you can pull the course apart one program at a time. all seven share one player, copied from upstream at a pinned release and checked file by file. if a package isn’t on disk it doesn’t get linked, so every link on this page opens a file you can actually read.

with scripting off, this page still works as a document: the text, a working link to every program and the links to the packages. the interactive part sits on top of that.
