PRISM · ATLAS
spot the traps. ten hotspots on an invented 2007 warez page, from the look-alike address to the codec popup.
ATLAS is a field guide to a bad page. the plate is MegaWarez Torrentz, an invented warez site i drew in HTML for this site and photographed. it has a look-alike address with no padlock, a notification prompt, a scan banner that cannot see your PC, three fake DOWNLOAD buttons, a 65 KB “movie”, a countdown, a comment telling you to switch off your antivirus, an ad whose close button is another link, and a codec popup. each one is a hotspot that explains the trick.
i measured the hotspot positions from the rendered page, so each marker sits on the thing it describes. the interaction runs on pinned upstream Image Hotspots and Text libraries.
atlas.h5p is the archive this screen runs, self-hosted under this same origin.
